About Dance Troupe

Dance Troupe was founded as one of the pillars of the Filipino Student Association (FSA) at The University of Central Florida as a way to teach its members Philippine culture through dance, allow members to make friends during the learning process, and expose the surrounding UCF and Orlando community to Philippine culture. As a college-level based dance company, the lack of immediate funds only allowed us to perform only a few dances, such as Tinikling. Over the years, Dance Troupe has grown through the help of its benefactors and its coordinators.

Still remaining as one of FSAs four pillars, Dance Troupe has expanded its repertoire of dances and has been recognized across the entire state of Florida for having a strong Philippine cultural dance program. While Dance Troupe is invited to perform for many events throughout the year and throughout the entire state, we also host our own showcase of all our Philippine dances in our repertoire at our annual "Sayaw!" show that is held in the Spring.

We hope that through our dances we can keep our Philippine roots alive.

Janine Beagle was born in Marikina, Philippines.  She left the Philippines in the age of 12.  Even though she left the Philippines at a young age, she still speaks fluent Tagalog and never forgot her Philippine culture.  As a college student living by herself, Dance Troupe is the only way that reminds her of home.

Jeff Miraflor loves his Philippine culture. He was born in Tampa, FL but his parents, both from the island of Leyte, chose to raise him as if they were living in the Philippines. He speaks fluent Cebuano, a dialect of Bisaya, and is a musician at heart. After being immersed into the life of Dance Troupe his Freshman year, becoming a coordinator is something he loves.
